1970s-80s, Livorno, Ovosodo, a working class neighbourhood. Piero Mansani talks about his life in the neighbourhood, from his childhood to his marriage. His family, his friends, the Italian teacher who teaches him to love books and most of all Tommaso, his schoolmate during his last year of high school, who is uninhibited and enterprising, and introduces him to a new world of relationships and experiences. And the girls, the hopes and illusions that take him to the threshold of adulthood.
It was 1997 when Ovosodo, the brilliant and bitter social comedy directed by Paolo Virzì, was released in theatres. Twenty-six years later, the feature-length film – which has become one of Italian cinema’s cult films – comes back in a version restored by Infinity+.
