The film tells the story of one of the crucial episodes of the Second World War, the battle of El-Alamein in 1942, which set the Italian-German Axis against General Montgomery’s British armour. A decisive defeat for the axis, in which the young Italian paratroopers from the Folgore Division distinguished themselves for their stubborn resistance, to the point of being mentioned by the British premiere Winston Churchill. The restoration of Duilio Coletti’s 1954 film, curated by Cinecittà by concession of Surf Film, brings back to the screen the atmospheres, psychologies and individualities of a dramatic epic battle. Written by Coletti with among others Ennio De Concini and Oreste Biancoli, the film features cinematography by Luciano Trasatti and a score by Nino Rota, as well as the performance of a young Mario Girotti, a future star to be known as Terence Hill.
