The Casa del Cinema line-up for April will open with a special anniversary, the centennial of Marlon Brando’s birth, which took place on April 3rd 1924. The programme features two films that – in a striking short circuit – convey the idea of the perfect Actor’s Studio parabola of an actor who has made his body a monument to the seventh art. Tuesday April 2nd there will be a screening of A Streetcar Named Desire by Elia Kazan, a masterpiece in which Brando’s muscular animal-like performance soars, conveying even the slightest ripple in his character with a performance that is both controlled and neurotic, wild and magnetic all at the same time. The following day, the screening will feature Apocalypse Now – Final Cut by Francis Ford Coppola, in which the actor, in the role of Colonel Kurtz, brings to life one of the most memorable characters in the history of cinema. The film will be presented in the Final Cut version.
