In un villaggio di pescatori sull’isola di Erin, Ciaran O’Shea, un poliziotto piuttosto svogliato, accoglie malvolentieri la zelante collega Lisa Nolan, che arriva dalla sede centrale. Non che ci sia molto da fare sull’isola, a parte tenere a bada qualche occasionale ubriaco, che di solito è proprio O’Shea. Finchè non comincia accadere qualcosa di strano: l’equipaggio di un peschereccio scompare, c’è una moria di balene sul bagnasciuga, un pescatore di aragoste trova una strana creatura tentacolare nella sua nassa … O’Shea e Nolan non tardano a capire che c’è qualcosa di molto grande al largo, e che questo qualcosa è molto affamato. Non resta che armare gli abitanti del villaggio e… puntare verso il pub.
Fra commedia romantica e monster movie, Grabbers ha avuto un grande successo nelle sale sia in Irlanda che in Inghilterra.
On Erin Island, an idyllic fishing village off the coast of Ireland, the charming but somewhat work-shy Ciaran O’Shea is tasked with greeting Lisa Nolan, a straight-laced young officer who has arrived from the mainland. Not that there is much for them to do, aside from dealing with the occasional drunk, and that’s usually O’Shea himself. But strange doings are afoot; the crew of a fishing boat disappears, whales start appearing dead on the shore, a local lobsterman catches a strange tentacled creature in his trap. Soon it becomes clear to O’Shea and Nolan that there’s something big out there, and that it’s hungry. It’s time to rally the villagers, arm the troops… and head to the pub. A romantic but surprisingly scary monster movie, which is already a hit in Irish and British cinemas.
