From August 1st to 23rd 2024, Casa del Cinema will host the series “Summer Tales”, a total of twelve films set during the summer season, the long-awaited season during which daily life stops and a new time arises, suspended, sometimes unexpected. Love and illusions, unfettered joy and melancholy are the elements of a long journey that begins in the 1950s with masterpieces such as Roman Holiday by William Wyler, The Seven Year Itch by Billy Wilder, To Catch a Thief by Alfred Hitchcock and Estate violenta by Valerio Zurlini. The series then moves through the 1960s, 70s and 80s with absolute classics such as Il sorpasso by Dino Risi, The Graduate by Mike Nichols, Death in Venice by Luchino Visconti, Un sacco bello by Carlo Verdone, to arrive at our own present time with films by Gabriele Salvatores (Io non hop aura), Wes Anderson (Moonrise Kingdom), Gianni Di Gregorio (Pranzo di ferragosto) and Mia Hansen-Løve (Bergman Island).
