One hundred and twenty years after his birth, Casa del Cinema celebrates the extraordinary talent of the French director Jean Vigo, bringing back to the big screen the four films in his filmography, which made him one of the most acclaimed filmmakers in the history of cinema. It begins on Sunday February 2nd at 11 am with the screening of the short film À propos de Nice, a work that reflects the tensions and contradictions of an entire society and an entire era, followed by Zéro de conduit, the film that more than any other displayed the director’s genuinely anarchical spirit. Thursday February 6th at 6 pm, audiences are invited to see the short film La Natation par Jean Taris, in which the director transforms a simple sports documentary into an abstract and post-avantgarde cine-poem, which he followed with L’Atalante, Vigo’s last and only feature-length film, celebrated as one of the greatest masterpieces of all time.
