Paris invites the Romans to Casa del Cinema for the second edition of the twinning festival that has brought the two capitals together since 1956. From July 8th through 12th, a programme of five screenings and encounters celebrates a friendship that is not the purview of Romans and Parisians alone, but nurtures a universal imagination. The guest of honour on the night of the inauguration will be Juliette Binoche with Les Amants du Pont Neuf by Leos Carax. Not to be missed is the blockbuster Le Sens de la fête, a comedy by the duo Toledano-Nakache, who will participate in streaming. In the days that follow, the appointment is with the vaguely Morettian Nouvelle Vague Paris, as portrayed by Arnaud Viard in Cléo, Melvil et moi, presented by actress Marianne Denicourt, then dance as a rebirth in Rise (En corps) by Cédric Klapisch, with the actress-ballerina Marion Barbeau. Just a few months after the death of Jean-Luc Godard, Le Mépris will be screened in the restored version. Concurrently with “Nouvelle Vague sul Tevere”, “Dolcevita-sur-Seine” will be taking place on the banks of the Seine: live-streamed encounters will bring the two audiences together. In Rome the encounters will be introduced and moderated by Aureliano Tonet, the film critic for Le Monde.
